Our Schools Winter fare :)

I am on the P.T.A of Katie and Michael's school. Lucan East Educate Together National School. Or L.E.E.T.N.S. I am head of fund raising. I love taking part in the P.T.A, and that Katie and Michael see me involved too. I feel the more I take an interest in their school, the more interested they will hopefully be in it too. This weekend we had our annual Winter fare. Note, not a Christmas fare, but a Winter fare. There are a good mix of different nationalities and religions in the school. Lots of different cultures. I love that my Children are learning about so many different things that aren't taught in a traditional school. That some of their friends are not Irish. That it is natural for them to mix with other nationalities. A big emphasis is made, that we are all unique, and should love each other for that fact.
The winter fayre was a great success, thanks to all the effort we put into organising it. Selling school calendars and raffle tickets everyday for 2 weeks, in the rain and heavy winds. We did a lot of promotion work too. As well as the "fun" task of finding volunteers for the day. So many people very kindly donated gifts for our raffle, As well as baking lots of yummy treats for us to sell. We made lots of ginger bread men and mince pies to be sold with hot chocolate. One of the girls made a fabulous Christmas Cake. We had a crafts fare inside and a car booth sale outside. We had a winter caravel, With lots of fun games that the children loved. We spent Friday and Saturday evening at the school into the early hours of the morning. Setting up the games, craft stalls and of course Santa's grotto. I lost count of the many tables we moved around the now bigger school. But all our work paid of as we saw the faces of the children and parents alike. It was said to be the best fayre the school has had so far :) I am looking forward to seeing how much we have raised, once all the change is brought to the bank. We already have lots of plans for our Summer fare, which I am sure will be just as successful :)
