Our Wedding

July 22nd 2010
All dressed and ready to go, We walked out to our waiting limousines while John recorded us leaving the house. I took up the whole back row with my dress. dad and Katja sat in the middle seat. everyone else split into the other cars and the journey to the chapel began.
I was excited and nervous at the same time, but in a good, butterflies in your tummy kinda way Smile I had waited for this day for a long time and I didnt want anything going wrong. I wanted it to be special for all involved. We arrived to the chapel twenty minutes late. Patrick, I was later told was so nervous waiting for me to arrive, bless him :) Michael was waiting at the front door with his little cushion holding the rings. He was so handsome in his paige boy suit. the boys had went down to Mullingar to stay with Patrick the night before. We walked to the chapel. It was an amazing feeling walking up the aisle. Michael first, then Katie and Katja followed. katie with her little basket of flowers, looked so cute Smile Anthony stood with Patrick and his best Man Niall. everything looked perfect, All the hard work our family friend Caroline had done working on the flowers had paid off. And all the help others gave us preparing the chapel the night before too. Dad and I walked in last. Walking up the aisle Gabriel’s D minor  sounded out as I saw Patrick for the first time that day. The second I got to my chair (after surviving the walk without, the feared, falling flat on my face haha) Patrick tool my hand and I felt like crying I was that Happy and because I knew he was Happy too.
Our ceremony was very special. Our friend Suzanne had made lovely programmes for the quests, as a keepsake. Tom Holton, Patricks branch president gave a talk on love. A good friend to Patricks.  Audrey spoke also, I had to really struggle through this part, to not cry and ruin my makeup. I was delighted that she was able to make it, with my new baby Niece Adisson Abby Cole, being in Hospital. having arrived a couple weeks earlier. Lorna Barber sang two Lovely songs, bringing a spirit of love to life. Michael grinned from ear to ear, when it came time for him to come give us our rings, when we were exchanging vows. He had such a happy face. Bishop Coffey did a great “job”. I wouldn’t have had it any other way.
After some photos at the chapel the bridal party went to the nearby Rose gardens. While our guests went to the hotel for refreshments. It had rained in the morning, but the sun was shining for our photo shoot. Jackie took on the role of organising poses for different photos. she was great Smile our photos are a treasure to us. we left the rose gardens to make way to our reception dinner. Me and Patrick in a limousine alone. As Husband and Wife. A once in a lifetime moment, never to be forgotten.
We arrived to the hotel to have Dinner with our close family and friends. 34 people in all. The food was delicious. I ate hungrily as It was the first food to pass my lips that day. after we ate we had some speeches. Giving Dad the opportunity to be his usual “funny” self  We presented our mums with big bouquets of flowers. At the same time everyone  enjoyed the favours our friend Marissa had kindly made for us. All of the children were so well behaved. And I even managed to not spill or drop anything on my dress. My mum always said, when I was growing up, that she would be no where near me on my wedding day, cause I’d be wearing white and was bound to spill or drop something down my dress haha
After dinner It was time for our evening reception/party to begin. Dad said there was approx 200 people there. We had some finger food, and cut the cake at this part of the day. in front of all our friends and family. Although I didn’t actually get to taste any of our cake Sad smile A friend of mine, Lucy,' from the children’s school made a very unique cake for us. me and Patrick on top with the  children on the lower layers. People said it tasted as lovely as it looked.
This was time for the real fun to begin. The music started and Patrick and I were invited to the dance floor for our First dance as Mr and Mrs Hussey. We danced to “There can be Miracles” by Leon Jackson. We choose this because the words felt right to us. It was a little embarrassing dancing with everyone watching us haha but I enjoyed having the time alone with Patrick again to see how he was enjoying the whole day. everything was going by so quickly, It was nice to just enjoy the moment together.
I danced with Audrey, Lisa and Michelle together at one point. I really loved this. I was so worried Audrey wouldn’t make it. They all had made such an effort and looked fabulous. I couldn’t keep the smile from my face. Rebecca asked me, why I was smiling so much? Me and Audrey answered at the same time saying, it was because I was so Happy. Which I was. I had all my loved ones together celebrating with us. everyone had made a real special effort to be there for us. especially Patricks family and friends from the country. It really meant a lot. there was possibly one person missing but I’m sure was present in spirit.
Everything went to plan. No big drama or fights, like happens at weddings sometimes. It was a day of celebrating, which I didn’t think would happen, But am so glad that it did Smile Definitely a day to be remembered. The children had a Great day.  they danced about all night. and had fun with all there cousins and friends. My friends Jackie and Jean were watching them while we were going to be on honey moon in Paris. so they were having little holidays in Cavan and Clair. I felt and do feel, so lucky to be blessed with such supportive kind friends. planning our wedding, made me come to a realisation of how loved we were. how people were so happy for us.
The day was coming to a close. so after throwing my bouquet, which Lisa caught, we said our goodbyes. Katja helped me to get out of my wedding dress. I was so hot from wearing it all day. we shared a few laughs about my worries of the dress possible not fitting for the big day. And also about how I had managed to survive the whole  day without going to the bathroom once haha I was so afraid of trying the ordeal, with my huge dress that I just didn’t haha we took about 100 clips from my hair and I jumped in a well awaited shower. I said goodbye to Katja for now, very Happy that she had decided to actually stay in Ireland to live again. one of the best wedding presents anyone could have given.
After the most relaxing shower ever, I was then joined by my Husband, yes I can say that now, Smile who had been saying goodnight to family and friends down in the reception. We finally got to just sit together and talk about our day. and to breath in and out, after the busy fun filled day. we went to sleep talking about the next day which would be another very special day, our sealing at the temple Smile
I am so Happy to be Mrs Hussey Smile
