The Capital City of Germany. It took us just under two hours, to drive to Berlin from where Katja lived in the small town of Halle. I don’t think I could ever get used to sitting on the wrong side of the car or driving on the wrong side of the road. It freaked me out a little if I’m honest :) We collected a good friend of Katja’s called Steffi, on our way. It was good to finally put a face to, the person I had heard a lot about, since Katjas move home. Steffi was friendly and fun to be around. We chatted away easily. sometimes it was English spoken, at others it was German. (I will be fluent one day I promise) We arrived to Berlin bright and early, having started out on our Journey at just before 8 in the morning. It was “bad” weather according to the forecast, it was “only” going to be 18 degrees :( I wasn’t complaining ha.
We began with a yummy breakfast. I had a crispy roll with lots of Nutella spread on it :) and a croissant with hot chocolate, I had an Apple to finish with, can never be too healthy ha. My breakfast was under 5 euro. The price of eating out in Germany was a very pleasant surprise to me. Gorgeous food for very low prices. I had been so nervous about what the food would be like. I needn't have worried.
We were joined by Silvia, another of katjas friends after Breakfast. I clicked with Silvia straight away and laughed a lot in her company. We started of first with visiting the Brandenbrger. It was constructed in 1791. It was a magnificent piece of ancient architecture. We met Mickey Mouse and Dart Vader here funnily enough :)We then went to see Denkmal fur die ermordeten Juden Europas. This was both very interesting and very sad at the same time. Again another work of great architecture. Each stone had its own foundation and slanted at different angels. It opened in 2005 in remembrance of the Holocaust's Jewish victims. It was powerful to be next to this “maze” as I called it. To feel the history behind it.

We stopped for some typical German lunch, Very tasty again, before going to see the Fernsehturm, which is basically the television tower. Like the Eiffel tower, I did not feel the need to go see the view from the top of this capital monument, which I can only guess would have been breath taking. Along our way through the city we passed Friedrichswerdersch-Kirch/Schinkel-Museum, the golden statue on top of this building reminded me of the golden Moroni on top of our Temples. We also passed by the Berlin City Zoo.

We didn't have time to stop at these, as there was some shopping to be done :)
I got lots of great bargains and some lovely presents to bring home. By this stage of the day it had started to rain very badly, so we decided it was time for a snack before our drive home to Halle. We had some yummy Duncan doughnuts and headed back to Rosie (Katjas car) We said goodbye to Silvia and after 14 hours of walking round berlin we were grateful to sit and chat all the way home :)
